If you are going to Basel city centre, definitely take BUS #50. Cabs are expensive. Take tickets from BVB(green box) ticket machines. Make sure you have Swiss francs in coins or a Maestro debit card.
When your flight's gate is open, try not to wait in line behind 80 other people. You're not gonna fly any faster, you won't loose your seat and you won't look like a moron. Try it.
Its possible to use both exits France and Switzerland to reach the same baggage claim area. No need to wait on the Swiss side, jump the que using the French boarder control.
Separate Swiss (the larger) & French sectors though you can pass freely albeit potentially subject to customs controls. Connected to Basel by a Swiss road and Bus 50 so you don’t need to enter France
Once you have taken the bus to the station trams will take you anywhere within about 10th mins. Ask your hotel front desk for a Mobility Pass... Free public transport.
